The first thing Sprague would do when he saw that clip, is ask Michelle Ervin for the dog-walker’s name, and write it down. And then Sprague would find the dog walker, and ask him if he saw Love get out of J ackson's car, ask him if he walks his dogs the same time every day, ask him if he knew he let Love in the building or saw what Love was doing inside. If you believe Sprague, he did none of that. This is the star witness who let Sprague’s murderer into the building on video, and Sprague says he doesn't even recognize him. Michelle Ervin saw the same video clip on the stand. While the video was playing, without being asked, she said "He moved out." The prosecution stopped the video and asked her what are we seeing here? Ervin: "So that's one of my former residents walking his dogs..." I immediately made the connection, the dog walker who supposedly let Love in at 4:53 is the same dog walker in the garage with Mandi and Mulrenin a few minutes later. They made great efforts to hide both of them. If Mandi and Mulrenin were already in the garage when the dog walker was returning, or even before he went out, then Love arrived after Jackson, not before. I already knew that even the clips that weren't out of order, were seven minutes off compared to the gate swipe and cellphone records. I will provide the details of this later. So my first guess was police moved all the timestamps back seven minutes to place Mandi arriving after Scott, to look like they were colluding outside the building. Because Sprague realized Love could not have been texting Mandi once she was inside, because he didn't have a phone. That's when Mandi's lawyer Carrie Rentz peeked into the courtroom and I said something like "OMG I see now how the video was edited." And she answered "Oh, I know. Can you BELIEVE they did that?" But she had not actually seen the new video yet. I had no idea they hid it from her. She actually had no idea what I was talking about. I also immediately noticed Michelle Ervin made a point to say the dog walker had moved out, without anyone asking her. It seemed like she was being proactive, to discourage anyone going over to The Lofts to talk to him. So I got curious when she said that on the stand at Love's trial on January 16, 2019. But I didn't motivate to follow up on my hunch until February 1 1. I got to the Lofts before 4AM February 11, 2019, to make sure I didn't miss any dog walkers, and to see what kind of traffic there is in general in the early morning. Two or three white cars drove into the garage over the next hour, which is more than I expected. I perked up to look for a dog walker intently around 4:53 AM, the time Love supposedly slipped in behind one. Someone who looked like retired patrolman Uzzi was working as a Lofts security guard. Uzzi was very evasive in front of the jury in both trials, when it came to where he now worked. At 5AM someone walked out of the Lofts first floor garage, who looked from behind like Detective Sprague. He put something in the dog walker trash, disappeared down the street, and then an old compact sedan, I think a light color, came driving toward Whole Foods. It looked like maybe someone sleeping over with a Lofts resident on the first floor, and parking in the street. If it was Sprague sleeping with someone at The Lofts, that might explain why he felt so comfortable faking evidence in this case. At 5:00 AM February 11, 2019, a female maintenance worker came out, and started picking up what looked like cigarette butts around the garage entrance, maybe wearing latex gloves. By 5:20 AM, I had not seen a single dog walker, and I was ready to leave. Then at 5:21 AM on February 11, 2019 — like a cuckoo clock more than two years after the death of James Mulrenin — a man came out of the freight door walking two frisky dogs with black and white spots. These were the first dogs I saw since arriving. They were medium sized, and mobile like the dogs I saw in the video at trial. I only saw the dogs in the video at trial for a few seconds, but I remember one had a white spot, and they looked like maybe some kind of odd terrier breed. One of the two dogs this man was walking had a white spot on its chest. And it appeared to be an undersized pit bull terrier mutt. III - 37
