It is usually less experienced people who pull the gloves straight off. And the gloves Smolarek swabbed were too scrunched up and mixed up, to claim you could tell inside from outside. She admitted on the stand she could not reliably tell what was the inside and outside. But Smolarek went right up on that stand at Love's trial, and told the flat-out lie that she determined what was the inside and outside, and swabbed the inside of all five gloves with one swab, and the outside with another. And Smolarek said the fact that all the gloves were in contact made this process useful, not useless. There is no point using two swabs, since they have already been cross-contaminated. But somehow the insides and outside were not cross-contaminated? You can use two swabs for that? In other words, Smolarek is saying all the gloves were taken off inside out, or none of them were. Since she could see the suspected stains, she is implying none of these gloves were taken off inside out. Impossible! They were all right-side-out and in contact, and that is why you can swab them all together with one swab. But if they are all right- side out, then NONE of the insides have been cross-contaminated after they were bundled. So you can use five swabs inside. And then she went on to admit at Mandi's trial, that sometimes these gloves are taken off inside-out. And she still determined what was inside or outside. What is there to determine, if they are all in contact and must all be right- side-out to justify swabbing them all with one swab? She has already claimed they were all in contact, but none of the insides were in contact with any of the outsides. Smolarek made the ridiculous assertion which she cannot possibly believe, that all five gloves were worn by the same person, during the same activity. So she could say Mulrenin's DNA was on the outside of the gloves, and Scott Love's "wearer DN " was on the inside of the same glove that Mulrenin's DNA was on the outside of. Not of one or two, but of five (or eight) gloves. And Smolarek did this not once on the stand, but multiple times. What she said the first time was so bizarre, the jury started asking the DNA expert about it. So they brought Smolarek back on the stand a second time, and she said "wearer DN " again. At this point Smolarek tried to clear up the confusion, by saying all five gloves were in a single ball. And the jury still had a look on their face like what the fuck. Alison Smolarek is way too smart and educated and experienced, to not realize that Mulrenin's DNA could have come from any side of any glove from one group, and Scott Love's DNA could have come from any side of any glove in a separate group. So how does such a smart, educated, experienced person make such a gross mistake? She didn't. She cross contaminated the gloves intentionally. They didn't have any evidence that Scott Love was ever inside Mulrenin's apartment, and they needed some. It was a blatantly manufactured proof of wearer and victim. You look at the top glove from the package, there is a substance on it. But the position of the fingers, and the pattern of the substance, is not typical from actual use. It seems contrived. The top glove from the package, with the substance, has no fingers inside out. You cannot pull that glove off Scott Love's hand with that result. The fingers have creases that look like it was never used. The substance is localized to the palm. That is hard to do in normal use. It is impossible to not spread it around more, if you pull the glove off inside out. It proves that glove was not pulled off inside out. If the substance is localized, and the glove was never worn, that substance was planted on it. I don’t think Smolarek even got Mulrenin's DNA from any of the gloves. I think she swabbed all five (eight) gloves and who knows what else from the car, to try to get some DNA of the defendants, and labeled that the "wearer DNA." And then she got Mulrenin's DNA from some blood from his apartment, and claimed it came from the outside of all five gloves. That is why the swabs of the revolver, the "wearer DNA" on the gloves, and the non- blood stain on the boot were all taken at 14:17. But the swab of the suspected blood on the gloves was not taken until 14:25. Smolarek took eight minutes to go fmd something with Mulrenin's blood. It took police a year to get back DNA results on the gloves. While they were waiting for a year, do you think they might have been curious to see if those booties had some of Mulrenin's carpet fibers on them? Do you think with all Smolarek’s classes and education, she could have put those booties under a magnifying glass and found a carpet III - 62
