THE SEXUAL ROLE PLAY ACCIDENT THEORY

The narrative that Mulrenin shot himself in the leg by accident during an oral sex role play, has enough things going for it that it merits examination. It works mechanically. The problems that make it unlikely, are in the psychology of the actors.

Just accept for a moment that Mandi would be likely to do a role play, where Mulrenin has a gun to her head. I don't need to go into detail of why. There are also people closer to the event than me who think that is what happened that night. It is possible they know more than me.

So Mandi has her head above Mulrenin's legs sitting in the recliner, and the gun goes off by accident. Scott is out in the hall, because wherever he was or however he got there, he got impatient waiting for Mandi and came looking. He hears the gunshot or somehow ends up in the apartment.

The first problem is Mulrenin's phone seems to be damaged. Best explanation is someone wanted to call 911, and another person didn't want that. I don't think Mulrenin would call an ambulance if he got shot in the leg by accident. He has too many problems with police and drugs and rape accusations. Mandi would not call, because the last time she called the police on me, she got arrested. And she is not in the habit of telling police she is a hooker.

That leaves Scott. Scott might go into a panic because his friends who died in the military, or because Mulrenin had a gun to his girlfriend's head and she seems drugged. But then who would break the phone to stop him, Mulrenin? Mandi? Mandi would not need to break the phone, she could just tell Scott don't call. It would have to be Scott trying to report Mulrenin for rape with his own phone and Mulrenin breaks it.

So maybe they get into an argument, Mulrenin is saying it is Mandi's fault he got shot in the leg. Mandi is saying no way, if you try to say that I will just say you were raping me. So the phone is broken and they are arguing over who is going to blame whom. And Mulrenin has a great idea. I have been told Mulrenin had a good trusting relationship with his neighbor below. So drug-crazed Mulrenin thinks I will just climb over the balcony and use the neighbor's phone to report Mandi shooting me in the leg before they realize what happened, or get a chance to blame me for rape. Whoever calls 911 first is always the one cops believe. And that way it never spills out into the hall to create problems for Mulrenin where he lives. The apartment he calls from does not have drugs in it, it seems like a good idea in the moment.

One problem with this is I examined Mandi pretty hard in the prison visitor park, and it really seems to me like she was blacked out. There are too many things she said to me in prison that don't make sense otherwise. They don't make sense as any kind of lies or coverup, but all fit together and make perfect sense if she was passed out and does not remember the rest. I don't doubt Mandi would lie to me to cover up the oral sex thing, but her statements don't fit that. Since Mandi was so sloppy that she does not even remember, this puts the burden of breaking the phone more on Mulrenin, and threatening the rape accusation more on Scott. That is all possible, but not the most likely.

It then makes perfect sense that Mandi would run out after Mulrenin went over. Because she is a hooker, and her standard action is to get out of the hotel room and disappear. But then would Scott also vanish? Scott's actions to this day suggest more evasive behavior, than he should have in the scenario I just described. The only counterbalance would be if Scott doesn't want people knowing his girlfriend is a hooker, and he views it as a story only Mandi can tell, and he has an insane fear of police in all circumstances. Or his strategy is just dumb, which it is in any case.

Finally, Mandi is pretty angry at Scott right now. She would not be so angry at Scott for a role-play accident. Maybe she was so blacked out that she doesn't even know what really happened and just assumes Scott did something bad. That seems to be the true case. But then it is hard to explain both the broken phone and Mulrenin going over the balcony. If Mulrenin was crazy on cocaine and caffeine and viagra and testosterone and drunk and half blind, which he was, anything is possible.

But the more likely scenario is still the phone got broken because Scott was trespassing in the hall, and I believe it is more likely the gun went off during a confrontation between Scott and Mulrenin.
